Existing records.

The existing 24hr distance record for a Jetski is 600 miles, done by a Croatian.

A deaf and blind man rode from Land's End to the isles of Scilly and back in four hours with a passenger giving directions.

Driving a Jetski for 7 hours produces as many hydrocarbons as driving a car for 100,000 miles.

An amputee circumnavigated the Irish coast on a Jetski: 1000 miles in 19 days.

Alvaro de Marichalar took a Jetski 5,320km from Hong Kong to Tokyo, a trip taking 11 weeks. He also took four months to go from Rome to Miami, as well as other crazy shit.

Hopefully he won't find this page and take my $100.

Inspiration.

Henry brought up the idea of riding a Jetski to Alaska, and I proposed that Bellingham might first be a reasonable destination. I offered him $100 to do it, and since he has not yet left I have amended the plan to be $100 to the first person to accomplish this goal. Miles has pledged another $100 to the first person to arrive in Juneau.

Will it be done?

The terms of the wager.

The first rider to leave Seattle and arrive in Bellingham will be
awarded the sum of $100.

The departure point will be the Magnusson Park public boat launch in Seattle, WA
The arrival point will be Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham, WA
The mode of travel must be via personal watercraft, aka Jet Ski. No other forms of transportation may be used between the start and finish other than Jet Ski, swimming, and walking.
All fees, expenses, and liability are accepted by the contestants. The wager is purely personal and does not confer any legitimacy to the event.

The individual providing the wager will be the final and only arbiter of success and victory conditions. They must be present at departure and may designate an agent to represent them at the arrival point.
